It was our first really miserably hot day
of the not-yet-summer season, but we still
saw a good turnout of supportive car
enthusiasts for the 2010 Veterans Count
Classic Car & Motorcycle Show.
We had a lot of automotive diversity on
hand, from military vehicles to full-on
race cars like the 57 Chevy shown above. We
had little European cars like the Austin
era Mini-Cooper shown below, to some
timeless American luxury cars of the 1950's
like the Chrysler Imperial shown cruising
through the show area.
One of my personal favorites was the really
well executed Chevy S-10 pick-up truck that
arrived with a full complement of 1960's
customizing tricks.
From the shave, haircut and lowered stance,
to the flawless candy red mini-flake paint
job, this one demanded a second look. Once
you gave it some more attention, you would
notice a completely re-done interior in
white with deep red piping, and elaborate
pin-striping on the now white dash. The
truck wore late model Caddy tail lights,
and a bed with a white lining that really
set the paint off like a road flare. A
great blend of new style with time honored
techniques. Well done!
The pristine resto-mod 69 Camaro seen below
walked off with the "best of show" award,
and a close examination of this one
revealed another marvel of detailing that
made it a deserving winner of the top nod.
But it wasn't an easy decision. We had some
serious contenders from meticulously
restored stockers and trick street rods, to
wild supercharged hot rods.
In the end, it was all for a proper cause,
as this show helps to raise awareness to
the good work done by the
Alpha Omega Veterans
Services. But hot or not,
we need to see you with your ride at our
next show. So keep a watch on these
pages for details about the Faith
Baptist Church Classic Car & Bike
Show coming up August 28th, and start
polishing that paint job now, because
show season has arrived!
