Activity | Fun Run
The MCCC 2008 Fun Run will take place on
Sunday October 19th. This low stress event
is traditionally a good time, with good
eats, and some of the best weather
conditions of the year. This year, we will
once again make use of Buckhead Creek Park
as the site of our cookout. We will also
begin the poker run from the park, which is
a slight change from prior years.
Note that some of our most talented members
have graciously donated their time and
materials to make a freshly rebuilt
Chevrolet 350 engine available as a prize.
Special thanks to Ronny Hodnett for
donating the engine, and to Gerald Raymer
for engine assembly. Also many thanks to
Bullet Cams, Vortex Coatings, and NAPA auto
Parts for donating parts and supplies for
the rebuild. A drawing for the engine will
occur during the Fun Run, and tickets can
be obtained at selected events (including
the Fun Run).
The engine is a
numbers matching 350 from a 1974 Chevelle
except for the 4 barrel spreadbore intake
manifold. It has a standard crankshaft .030
flat top pistons 1.94 intake valves. The
compression ratio should be around 9.0 to
1. The Bullet camshaft is a
stock grind. Should be around 275 Horse
power. In other words, it's perfect
for a daily use in a classic Chevy or
street rod project.
Proceeds from this years Fun Run will be
pooled with the Proceeds from the
Memphis Rodders
Reunion
to benefit the
Shriner's Burn Transportation Fund
which provides patient transportation
to
Shriner's
Hospitals
specializing in pediatric burn care. Please
make your plans now to attend this event
and support this worthy cause.
