Moderate temperatures and a passion for
cars brought just under 160 registered
participants to the Faith Baptist
Church Classic Car & Bike Show
this past Saturday. We saw a diverse range
of automobiles (although a little shy on
bikes...) ranging from street rods to
muscle cars, along with rarities such as a
restored midget race car and an Allstate
(Sears) motor scooter.
We sold tickets for our small block Chevy
engine, mini-chopper, concessions and
Hawaiian shaved ice. Business was good,
especially for the shaved ice.
Sneed
Insurance, one of our
newest supporters, set up a booth and
discussed collector car insurance with
many show entrants.
Since the MCCC were the caretakers of this
show, it was not a surprise to see many of
our own on the show field. However, it
always knocks me out to see how the
Mustangs of
Memphis can mobilize and
make a statement with their late model
pony cars. A more enthusiastic club
would be hard to find, and I say they
should be heretofore recognized for
their participation. Rest assured Ford
folk, it is appreciated.
Similarly, a large contingent of witchy
Mopars were on hand, including the
once-upon-a-time, plain-Jane Plymouth
Signet convertible shown above. No longer a
wallflower, this car was detailed to the
hilt and was among the slickest cars
entered when given a second glance.
So all in all, we had ourselves a pretty
ideal one-day car show. You may notice that
our web site is getting a bit of a refresh,
and some new features are going online. A
streamlined photo gallery with larger
images is in the works, so keep a watch out
for some new photos (including some from
this event) that will appear in regularly
updated galleries.
Next show on our agenda is the
Bartlett
Festival. Hope to see you
there.
