Studies in Styrene

It's that time again. Time for what is now a spring tradition. As announced during the March meeting, Our May gathering will mark the Memphis Classic Chevys third model car contest and desert eating competition. So break out the paint, the glue, and the overdriven imagination and put something together for our membership to enjoy, whether it comes from the hobby store shelves or the self cleaning oven.
If building a model, recall how it felt before you had a drivers license. A new build would be good, but you can always dust off an oldie and bring it along to get in on the action. Note the photos in this posting made at 'King Con 07' if you need inspiration as to what a well done model can actually look like.
Anyhow... just like last year, here's our very basic ground rules & suggestions for the contest:
• You need to have assembled the model at some point in time.
• No pre-assembled kits, or die-cast vehicles please.
• We will have two classes. That's it.
• Class one (1) will be for "Chevys" since that is the namesake of our club.
• Class two (2) will be for everything else.
• Creative thinking and "kit bashing" is encouraged.
• We will display the entries at the May meeting.
• The club members will cast ballots for their favorite entries.
• A recognition award will be bestowed upon the "winner" in each class.
So that everyone can get in on the fun, we're also putting out a call for creative desert making. Just like we did last year. If you don't want to build a mini car, then please feel obligated to bake something delicious. We will eat your creation, and be glad with it. We will recognize a "best of" in both the model "build off" and the "bake off". There's just over a month left before the contest, so get busy if you haven't already started!
